Wyclef Jean will be joining ABC’s Nashvillein a multi-episode arc as a music producer.
The rapper/singer, producer, politician, and actor will join stars Connie Britton and Hayden Panettiere as the head of a music label. Nashville was one of the highest anticipated new shows debuting this fall, and, so far, it has lived up to everyone’s expectations. It has been trumping other shows in the ratings like Chicago Fire and putting other musical dramas on notice (looking at you here, Smash and Glee).
Wyclef joining the cast of Nashville isn’t his first foray into television. Jean previously had a recurring role on NBC’s Third Watch as gang leader Marcel Hollis.
He has also worked on the soundtracks of Nashville competitor Glee and 30 Rock. Jean announced being cast in a recurring role on Nashville by posting the above pic to his Twitter.
Wyclef called new co-stars Sam Palladio, Clare Bowen, Jonathan Jackson and Rya Kihlstedt the “hottest cast on TV.” (Okay he called them the “hotest,” the grammar police in me had to call that out.)
For those unfamiliar with Nashville, the show centers around American Horror Story Emmy nominee Connie Britton as Rayna James, a fading country music star who is forced to open for up and comer Juliet Barnes, played by Heroes alum Hayden Panettiere.
Here’s hoping that now that Wyclef Jean’s been cast in a recurring role in ABC’s Nashville we’ll get to see more almost-naked shots like the one he tweeted on his birthday. A girl can dream
