Haitian-American actress Garcelle Beauvais was in South Florida this weekend as a surrogate for the Hillary Clinton Campaign. During her visit, Garcelle met with the Haitian-American community in West Palm Beach and stopped at the Hillary campaigning office in Little Haiti, Miami.
Curated by Dr. Marc Lafalaise, the one-hour event consisted of Garcelle explaining her decision to support Hillary, why she thinks we need a woman in the White House and the importance of registering to vote. Garcelle was happy to hear the community concerns about Hillary, she met with over 30 people individually and interviewed with the Haitian press.
When asked about her reason for backing a candidate with a bad reputation in the Haitian community, the actress said,
“Give Hillary a chance to rewrite the wrongs that’s been done to our country”
“Hilary has been endorsed by Bernie Sanders one that is extremely popular with the youth and student immigrants”
” I know there’s a lot of Haitians who have reservations because of things that happened in the past with Haiti and the Clintons, and I feel like I would rather have someone who has a connection with Haiti, who can make it up to us than someone who absolutely doesn’t even know we exist, who doesn’t even care about us.”
