A Southwest Airlines flight preparing to depart fr

A Southwest Airlines flight preparing to depart from Dallas Love Field was struck by gunfire on the tarmac Friday night, according to authorities. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident.
Southwest Flight 2494, bound for Indianapolis, was hit by what appeared to be a bullet that struck the right side of the aircraft beneath the flight deck, the airline confirmed in a statement. Following the strike, the plane returned to its gate where passengers were safely deplaned.
The airport temporarily closed the runway to address what officials described as a “security incident,” but operations have since resumed. Dallas police confirmed responding to reports of gunfire at 9:48 p.m. local time and discovered the plane had been hit.
This occurrence is similar to the gunfire incidents involving aircrafts in Haiti. Earlier this week, gunfire near the Toussaint Louverture International Airport in Port-au-Prince prompted the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to impose a 30-day ban on U.S. flights to Haiti. A Notice to Air Missions (NOTAM) issued Tuesday restricts all U.S. civil aviation operations within Haitian airspace below 10,000 feet.
While the FAA’s swift response to the Haiti incident resulted in an immediate flight ban, no such measures have been announced following the Dallas Love Field gunfire as investigations into both events continue.
