The Miss Miami Gardens program is a local preliminary to the Miss Florida and Miss America programs, collectively serving as one of the largest scholarship providers for young women. Edwina’s initiative, Compassion in Action: Volunteering to Bring Joy and Advocating for Better Care in Our State’s Nursing Homes*, stems from her deep-rooted passion for elderly care. The #Trump administration is considering imposing travel restrictions on nationals from #Cuba and #Haiti, according to a report by the Miami Herald. Sources familiar with the ongoing discussions told the publication that Cuba could be placed on a "red list" of countries facing a full travel ban, while Haiti may be subject to a less severe version of the restrictions.
This potential expansion aligns with President Trump's efforts to broaden the travel bans he first introduced during his first term. Those earlier bans initially targeted Muslim-majority countries, arguing that they lacked adequate security measures for screening travelers. The policy was later expanded to include North Korea and members of the Venezuelan government.
Universities and advocacy groups have already started warning individuals from countries that may be affected to return to the U.S. as soon as possible. The American Association of University Professors and the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee have also cautioned against travel outside the U.S. until more information is confirmed.
The report states that the proposed restrictions stem from a January 30 executive order directing federal agencies to assess countries with inadequate vetting and screening procedures. Haiti’s inclusion in the travel restrictions presents additional complexities due to the security crisis in the country and ongoing U.S. involvement in efforts to combat armed gangs. The U.S. Embassy in #PortauPrince has struggled with visa processing due to gang violence and repeated evacuations of non-essential personnel. In 2023, available visa appointment slots were reportedly backed up until 2026.

A small plane crashed Sunday afternoon in the parking lot of #Brethren Village, a retirement community near Lancaster Airport in Manheim Township, Lancaster County, #Pennsylvania. The incident occurred around 3:15 p.m. on March 9, 2025, involving a Beechcraft Bonanza single-engine aircraft with five people on board.⁠

Witnesses reported that the plane took off from Lancaster Airport but soon veered left and nose-dived into the parking lot, resulting in a fireball and extensive damage to several vehicles. Emergency responders arrived promptly, extinguishing the flames and attending to the injured. All five occupants were transported to local hospitals; however, their current conditions have not been disclosed.⁠
