Special Olympics Haiti Announces Anthony Duclair as Official Brand Ambassador

NHL’s Anthony Duclair will join the team as their newest ambassador

Port-au-Prince, Haiti (June 19, 2019) – Special Olympics Haiti, a program within Special Olympics International, a global sports organization serving persons with intellectual disabilities is proud to announce that Anthony Duclair, forward for the NHL’s Ottawa Senators, will join as its newest Official Brand Ambassador.

The Brand Ambassador program serves to work with a strong network of influencers to continue to help raise the visibility and awareness of persons living with intellectual disabilities through Special Olympics Haiti programs. The Brand Ambassador program provides opportunities to engage with local athletes and will offer education, leadership development, mentorship and life skills activities, including an annual trip to Haiti highlighted by a sport clinic and workshop. Duclair now joins Jozy Altidore, current Toronto FC player, Sebastian Joseph-Day, defensive tackle for the NFL’s Los Angeles Rams, and Kako Bourjolly, local comedian and entertainer as ambassadors.  

“I am thrilled to join the Special Olympics Haiti team as a Brand Ambassador,” says Duclair. “It’s an honor for me to be able to give back to young people in Haiti and help them continue to have the opportunity to participate in sports. I look forward to supporting the organization’s initiatives to help those with intellectual disabilities.”

With a network of dedicated coaches and volunteers, the mission of Special Olympics Haiti is to provide quality year-round sport activities, training and competitions in safe spaces to persons with intellectual disabilities (ID).  This year, the National Games will be held in November 2019 in the disciplines of football and track and field.

“Special Olympics Haiti is excited to have Anthony join the ranks as Ambassador.  We know that with his dynamism and leadership, we will continue to education and change mindsets towards persons living with ID. Also, you never know, under his tutelage, maybe Haiti can one day participate in a Special Olympics Winter World Games”, states Nathalie Philippe, Executive Director of Special Olympics Haiti.

Duclair will help raise awareness for the organization through his network and digital channels.

Partnering with specialized schools and centers that serve persons with intellectual disabilities (ID), the mission of Special Olympics Haiti is to provide quality sport programming year-round including tournaments and competitions in safe spaces in addition in addition to conducting workshops and training for sport professionals, partners and caregivers within the network. Special Olympics Haiti partners with specialized schools and centers that serve persons with ID providing regular sport training in football, track and field, basketball, bocce, volleyball, table tennis, equestrian and unified sports (played with non-ID athletes).

Special Olympics Haiti is part of the Sport Consulate Group (SCG) network in Haiti.
