Former Miss Haiti International 2018, entrepreneur, and mom – Sandra Love will be relaunching the Bella Beauty Lounge by hosting a fashion show on Saturday, April 24th, 2021, in Sunny Isles Beach, Florida.
The red carpet event will open with a tribute to Haiti to kick off Haitian flag day which is a month away. Sandra Love believes the media often portrays Haiti as an impoverished country and fails to show the beautiful places, people, and culture. To combat these stereotypes, Sandra Love will be retelling Haiti’s history through beauty and fashion.
Haitian singer Phyllisia Ross will be performing in between sets by DJ Bugz. Host Melly Sings and Nodrant will greet guests while performing their comedic banter. “I am so excited to see everything we planned to come to life,” Sandra Love tells L’union.
Sandra Love grew up in a Haitian household where she was always creative. She would sketch little drawings on pieces of paper, cut up clothes, and even wrote poetry. “I’ve always been artsy”, Sandra Love says. She also recalls the difficulties of finding the balance between American and Haitian culture.
Bella Beauty Lounge launched in 2016 to inspire other Haitian women to be comfortable in their skin. Haitian women face a lot of public scrutinies. “I was not allowed to dress sexy or to express my full femininity because it was perceived unladylike. I wanted to change that perspective; we can be classy and sexy at the same time.” Sandra expresses.
In 2018, Sandra Love ran for Miss Haiti International while advocating for self-love. “I participated in the International pageant because I was proud to be Haitian, I wanted to represent the country because people who always make me feel like I was not Haitian enough. Their negativity propelled me to step out of my comfort zone and challenge myself”, she adds.
She was crowned the title proving herself and many others wrong. The momtrepreneur is motivated by her children, “they make me the best version of myself”, says Sandra Love. Her “I am just another mom trying to make it” mentally continues to affirm all of her accomplishments. Come out this upcoming weekend to celebrate with her!
