Presidential Palace Agent Caught with Ammo Cache and Cash Amid Gang Investigation in Pétion-Ville

Jean Renel Pierre, a special agent of the Presidential Palace CAT Team, was arrested yesterday in Pétion-Ville in possession of a significant amount of ammunition and cash. Authorities seized 2,695 cartridges, including 2,574 rounds of 7.62 caliber, along with three cell phones and 237,000 gourdes. According to a press conference held by Michel Ange Louis Jeune, spokesperson for the Haitian National Police, Pierre, a member of the 21st police promotion, was apprehended on Louverture Street during a surveillance operation. The police had been monitoring the area in an effort to arrest a known gang member, “Miller,” associated with the “Krache Dife” gang. Authorities had received information that Miller was supposed to be at a nearby commercial bank. During the operation, the police focused on the vehicle that was believed to be connected to Miller. However, instead of the gang member, Jean Renel Pierre, dressed in uniform, arrived to collect the vehicle. The arrest raises questions regarding Pierre’s involvement in the ongoing investigation.
