Madonna reunited with ex-husband Sean Penn last week at his Help Haiti Home benefit. She was spotted on the red carpet in Los Angeles with her children Mercy and David.
Later in the night, Madonna performed “La Vie en Rose” in French to a packed house at the Montage Hotel. Before her performance, she praised Penn for his work in rebuilding Haiti.
“Tonight is my night off from touring. And I couldn’t think of a better place to be than here, supporting an amazing organization,” she said. “I had the privilege of going to Haiti with Sean two years ago with my son Rocco and we had the most amazing adventure.”
“I am so proud of you, so proud to know you,” she declared. So I want to say, Sean, that I loved you from the moment I laid eyes on you and I still love you just the same.”
The song Madonna performed “La Vie en rose” (French pronunciation: [la vi ɑ̃ ʁoz]) was the signature song of French popular singer Édith Piaf, written in 1945, popularized in 1946, and released as a single in 1947.
