The procession will begin at General Toussaint L’Ouverture statue at NE 62 Street & N Miami Ave. towards Little Haiti Cultural Complex 212-260 NE 59th Terrace
6pm Vigil with special guests and musical tributes
7pm Unveiling of LHCC new permanent Haiti Earthquake Memorial designed by Jonathan Taylor from Andromeda District “Boullion”

On Monday, January 12, 2015, Planet Kreyol and the University of Miami will have a Day of Remembrance to mark the five year anniversary of the 2010 earthquake that struck Haiti. We will also be celebrating Haiti’s hopeful future and look at the progress that has been made since the earthquake, including various research projects and initiatives that UM has collaborated with in Haiti.
The schedule for the day is as followed:
3 p.m. – An Academic Symposium at the Student Activities Center, third floor, featuring participants from various schools, colleges, and student organizations.
4:53 p.m. – A Moment of Silence marking the time the earthquake occurred, on the Lakeside Patio area outside the Student Activities Center.
6 p.m. – Haiti Remembrance Ceremony featuring an invocation and speakers begins on the Lakeside Patio area.
6:45 p.m. – Candlelight vigil on Lakeside Patio area.
7 p.m. – Post reception at the Student Activities Center, East Ballroom, third floor.
