Another win for the Haitian culture!!!!
The last three weeks Haitian DJ and record producer Michael Brun have teased his fans with a major announcement “coming soon”. We are excited to officially share Colombian megastar J Balvin and the Haitian EDM DJ teamed up for “Positivo,” the officially 2018 Telemundo Deportes World Cup song.
According to Billboard, the Spanish-language broadcaster for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia revealed its soccer theme with a video teaser during the Billboard Latin Music Awards on Thursday night (April 26) during the live broadcast of the awards. The song will be released as a single on Monday, according to Telemundo.
Balvin sings in Spanish on the euphoric “Positivo,” a collaborative version of Brun’s “Bayo,” a song first released by the 25-year-old Haitian artist and producer in Haitian Creole, rooted in the mesmerizing rhythms of Afro-Haitian festival music rara.
“Bayo“ in Haitian Creole means “to give,” represents the mindset of Brun and the other young musicians he’s currently working with. The tropical dance song prominently showcases the beauty of Haiti and its people with an infectious melody influenced by Haiti’s traditional Rara music. Brun collaborated with Haitian pop star J. Perry along with Haitian Rap Kreyol artists Baky and Strong G who comes through with verses in Creole.
“This is crazy, I cant believe I got to collaborate with J Balvin” Brun told L’union Suite earlier today. “I’m just so proud, I get to see Haiti and Colombia collaborating and creating something really special, this is a huge moment for Haiti”
