I Love reading about Haitian Designers in the industry!!
According to MariClaire:
With his debut women’s wear line WISB, Haitian designer Hassan Pierre aims to merge style with environmental and social responsibility. However, this is easier said than done. After all, take a look at all the fledgling brands creating crunchy, hippy-dippy clothes better suited for a college student in Vermont than a working girl in NYC. Luckily for us, Pierre has achieved his goal.
His clothing is contemporary and fun, with textiles and patterns that are on trend and flattering. Oh, and did I mention that this 20-something already has a celeb fanbase including Veronica Webb, Hilary Rhoda, and Hannah Bronfman? I’d say WISB is definitely the way fashion should be. Each piece from WISB is made of the finest organic materials, such as silk, bamboo, and organic cotton.
And the clothing is green from start to finish! Even the hang tags are made of seeded paper and soy ink so when they are put into the ground, they sprout plants. For WISB’s lookbook, Pierre hired model Mari Malek, a Sudanese refugee who has an incredible organization, the Southern Sudan Initiatives, that helps Sudanese women escape to a better life.
Coincidentally, she also modeled for Organic by John Patrick’s SS12 presentation.
