Glavidia Alexis is a West Palm Beach born, Haitian-American designer who seamlessly navigates the roads that are fashion and beauty. Her collections feature strong foundations, soft, feminine silhouettes, and a beautiful marriage of colors and textures.
Alexis is also a hair stylist and make-up artist in Delray Beach, Florida. According to the designer, what makes her special is the fact that she is the only Black salon owner in Downtown Delray Beach and was recently selected to display her line at the Delray Beach Fashion week.
Alexis knew as a child that she was destined for high fashion and the beauty arts. Alexis mother, an artisan, inspired her to be an artist finding beauty in unique textures and color patterns.Alexis went on to graduate from the “The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale and studied abroad in Firenze, Italy and London, England. She took her love of fashion to New York, working as a protégé to some of the top stylists there.
In 2008, she designed her first fashion collection which was a sophisticated yet edgy Victorian approach to women’s luxury apparel. “I love to make women feel and look great. I enjoy using my imagination as there are no limits to what inspires me.”
Alexis’s collections consist of a creative and sophisticated palette, strong foundations, soft feminine silhouettes and beautiful textures and colors. “I take great pride in my work and understand that being truly an exceptional Fashion Designer and Master Hairstylist requires more than the artistic talent and technique. It requires vision, patience, listening skills, professionalism and the love of people.
I will continue to design for that fashion forward confident woman, who wants to exude sex appeal yet maintain true elegance.” As of 2015, Alexis brand includes Glavidia Alexis Fashions and Glavidia Hair Studios based in Delray Beach, FL.
What inspires you?
What inspires me are cultures, colors and the character of the people who encompass them. There’s nothing more inspirational than the distinctions and commonalities humanity shares in fashion and the arts.
What is your mission as a Fashion Designer?
My mission as a Fashion Designer is to create collections that carry inspirational stories and design unique luxury fashion forward apparel. I enjoy completing clients’ desired looks to accentuate their true beauty.
What makes you different?
Our fashion house blends a variety of textures and mix fabrications. Glavidia designs have a Victorian influence and silhouette.
Why you take pride in being a Haitian American?
Born here in South Florida, I take pride of being Haitian American because of the sacrifices both my parents made to be here in the United States and having used my culture background to influence my designs.
