With nearly 4,000 possible candidates, 500 soldiers were chosen to begin basic training to be part of the first promotion of Haitian army soldiers of the president Jovenel Moise era.
According to Haiti Minister of Defense Enol Joseph beginning January 2019, training is set to commence at the Gressier Military Base. The training will be carried out by Mexican soldiers, former Haitian soldiers, and some civilian experts.
The Mexican authorities will send doctors, agronomists and engineers to participate in this training. In addition, Haitian army officials will receive military training in Mexico to strengthen the Corps of Engineers informed the Minister of Defense, adding that the Armed Forces of Haiti (FAd’H) also benefit from cooperation with Chile, Brazil, Ecuador, and Taiwan.
