The President Michel Martelly, accompanied of the First Lady, Sophia Martelly, officially opened the Carnival National of Les Cayes “Ayiti dekole, Okay douvan”, Saturday, February 18, 2012, at Dan’s Creek Hotel, to Port-Salut, during the traditional Queens Ball, organized as a prelude to the three fat days.
Queens and Kings, 27 girls and 5 boys, from different cities of the Southern Department, such as Port-Salut, Cayes, Camp-Perrin, Cavaillon, St-Louis du Sud, Aquin… have promoted the department and the many tourist and cultural attractions.
It is the cayenne Sophia Jean Jacques, in 2nd year of Administrative Sciences at the Public University of the South (UPSAC) who was crowned Queen of Queens of Carnival 2012 and Erick Jocelyn, student in the final year, at the Educational Center of Les Cayes, crowned King of kings.
