Haitian actress Garcelle Beauvais & producer Lisa L. Wilson’s new multi-media production company Beauvais Wilson Productions have acquired a one-hour scripted series, Barely Legal, about a Haitian Immigrant family from Haitian-American Claws writer Mike Gauyo.
According to Deadline, the show will be based on family experiences, the plot follows a thick as thieves immigrant Haitian family, who takes a “fake it, till you make it” approach to life to survive today’s American legal system.
Gauyo said, “the show is about an immigrant Haitian family in Boston trying to stick together when a huge Family secret is uncovered, it’s like an immigrant version os Shameless.”
Beauvais and Wilson will serve as executive producers. The duo recently produced Lalo’s House, a feature that highlighted the devastating world of child sex trafficking.
There’s no additional information on when the show will begin taping.
