First, it was ballot boxes catching fire—now they’re turning up on the street.
In a bizarre twist, a sealed ballot box and a bag of ballots were found lying on the side of the road in Cutler Bay after falling out of a Miami-Dade elections worker’s truck. A passerby discovered the containers and brought them to a nearby police station. Deputy Supervisor of Elections Roberto A. Rodríguez assured that the seals remained intact and that the ballots were verified as untampered. The elections department continues to emphasize that the fallen containers were backup records and posed no risk to the integrity of the election.
